Résumé

L'objectif de cette étude est de proposer une analyse de la critique qu'une certaine littérature, typique de la fin du siècle dernier, a portée vers la société capitaliste et ses conséquences non seulement sur le style de vie des individus, mais aussi sur leur psychologie et leur comportement social. Les changements sociaux et l'augmentation de l'influence du marché ont provoqué un changement intérieur et profond dans la société, créant ce que Bauman a appelé une société liquide : prête à changer et à s'adapter aux besoins et aux nécessités du marché, le nouveau pouvoir réel. Ce changement global a investi et influencé la société dans le monde entier, trouvant un écho approprié dans différents artistes du monde entier, de l'Europe à l'Afrique en passant par l'Australie. En se concentrant uniquement sur la littérature italienne et américaine, à travers le travail d'écrivains tels que Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palaniuk et Don DeLillo - pour la littérature américaine -, et Tondelli et les Jeunes Cannibales en Italie, il serait possible d'analyser comment ces artistes, avec des images pulp et un langage fort, montrent au monde le côté sombre du capitalisme et de la société du nouvel ordre, qui visent à tuer le moi intérieur, créant ce qui a été appelé une désidentité : transformer les individus en parfaits produits du marché, prêts à changer et sans désir intérieur ni personnalité, prêts à servir et à suivre les dictats du marché. Par le biais principalement de la télévision et de la propagande publicitaire, la société de marché a créé une fausse réalité, ce que Baudrillard a appelé l'hyper-réalité, qui a englouti le monde en supprimant toute possibilité réelle d'évasion. La seule chance de survie est alors devenue la soumission complète du soi, l'abandon de toute forme indépendante du soi en échange d'une vie "adaptée". Le choix de s'intégrer ou d'être rejeté est dépeint dans ces livres, montrant que peu importe le choix, le résultat est le même : aliénation et perte profonde du Soi. Ces conséquences conduisent, d'une manière ou d'une autre, à différentes formes d'autodestruction, différentes façons d'atteindre le même objectif : l'oubli de soi et le trouble causé par la vie dans un monde en perpétuel changement, où la norme est toujours avancée, où les objectifs sont impossibles à atteindre et la réalité impossible à vivre. 

Abstract

The aim of this study is to prepare an analysis of the critic that certain literature, typical of the end of last century, brought forward toward capitalistic society and it’s consequences not only on the life style of the individuals, but also on their psychology and social behaviour. Social changes and the increase of the influence of the market brought forward an inner and profound change in the society, creating what Bauman called a liquid society: ready to change and to adequate itself to the must and necessity of the market, the new real power. This global change invested and influenced society all over the globe, finding proper echo in different artist around the world, from Europe to Africa to Australia. Focusing only on Italian and American literature, through the work of writers as Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palaniuk and Don DeLillo – for American literature -, and Tondelli and the Young Cannibals in Italy, could be possible to analyse how those artists, with pulp images and strong language, show to the world the dark side of capitalism and the new order society, which aim at the killing of the inner self, creating what has been called a dis-identity: transforming the individuals in the perfect market good, ready to change and without an inner wish or personality, ready to serve and to follow the dictate of the market. Through mostly television and advertising propaganda, the market society has created a false reality, what Baudrillard called the hyper-reality, which engulfed the world deleting any real possibility of escape. Only chance of survival has become then the complete submittal of the self, giving away any independent form of the Self in change of a “fit-in” life. CBoth the choice to fit in or be casted out are portrayed in those books, showing how dees not matter which is the choice, the result would be the same: alienation and profound loss of the Self. Those consequences lead, in a way or another, to different form of self-destruction, different ways to achieve the same goal: forget yourself and the disquiet caused by living in a world in constant change, where the standard is always moved forward, where goals are impossible to meet, and reality is impossible to live.
